Hendrik Jan Wesseling was born in the Netherlands in 1881.  He was a 

student of the School of Applied Arts in Haarlem Netherlands and of Frans Loots.

He was later Kees Koeman's teacher. Weaseling was an illustrator, painter, draftsman, etcher and decorative painter.  He served as a board member of the artists' association Kunst Zij Ons Doel in Haarlem.
